Stohead
Stohead worked on a 100 square metre brick façade of a residential building in Moislinger Mühlenweg in a neighbourhood that is currently characterised by renovation, demolition, new construction and neighbourhood development.
Writing is at the centre of Stohead's artistic universe. Form and statement form the two poles from whose tension the Berlin artist has been consistently pushing into unexplored terrain since the 1980s - from ephemeral delicacy to bulldozed bold type, from political profundity to lacquer noses dripping with irony. Words, phrases, quotes from song lyrics, painted in a gestural style that sometimes resembles choreography - this has become the Berlin artist's recognisable feature over the years.
Stohead's works - he himself likes to call them "written abstractions" - can be found both on the streets and in the galleries of global metropolises.
