From 5 to 9 July 2023, the city of Lübeck was transformed into a huge open-air gallery!
Summer, sun and aerosol swept through the streets at the 1st Lübeck Urban Art Festival. The most diverse forms, artistic concepts and techniques of urban art unfolded as art in progress in public spaces - freely accessible and live for all to experience.
The artists and curators of getting-up from Hamburg, Mirko Reisser, Heiko Zahlmann and Gerrit Peters, recruited seven high-calibre artists from the international urban art scene for the first edition of the festival. They created large-scale murals spread across the city districts, making the townscape distinctive and enriching it in the long term. The local and regional scene also found a venue for its creative output with a series of newly created spots.
Besides these highlights, there was a packed supporting programme with around 60 events in ten categories during the five days of the festival. In addition to other urban art disciplines such as tape art, events such as graffiti workshops, artist talks, tours, concerts, breaking and hip hop dance, skateboarding, film and much more were spread across the city districts - true to the motto: All you need is LUAF!
